As government advice surrounding the safe management of coronavirus (COVID-19) in our community changes daily, we are monitoring the situation very closely. The Minister for Agriculture announced early on that Vets are an 'Essential Service' during this crisis and so we remain open and at your disposal during this challenging time.
While the Australian Veterinary Association and other health authorities have indicated that dogs, cats, and other domestic animals are not at risk for contracting COVID-19, we are taking every precaution to ensure the health and safety of humans within our facilities notably our clients and staff.
At this time, we ask that all clients adhere to strict social distancing practices by keeping at least 1.5m apart. If you have an upcoming appointment, we have several options and accommodations available for you:
If you would like to wait in your car instead of the waiting room for your appointment, just check-in at the front desk or call us at (07) 4630 8399 when you arrive. When your exam room is ready, one of our staff will alert you and escort you straight to the room.
Or, please call ahead so that we can arrange a car-park drop off for your pet. We will come to your car to get your pet and bring them back out for their scheduled pick-up time. We can accommodate car-park drop-off appointments for all of your veterinary needs, including surgery, dental, vaccinations and microchipping, diagnostic testing, general illness visits, etc.
There are no cancellation fees, but please let us know in advance as much as possible if you need to reschedule your appointment.
Finally, DO NOT enter our facility if you are ill, have been in contact with someone who is ill, or has traveled in the last 14 days.
For more information on animal health-related issues and COVID-19, visit the Australian Veterinary Association website at https://www.ava.com.au/coronavirus/.
We will do everything we can to uphold the exceptional veterinary care our pet owners and patients deserve. Please call ahead on (07) 4630 8399 if you have any questions or if there is anything we can do to keep your family and pets healthy during this challenging time.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation, the Highfields Vet Surgery Team.
